FORBIDDEN: NEW ALBUM TITLE + DETAILS ANNOUNCED

 FORBIDDEN 2010 with logo - 5 inch @ 300 dpi.jpg

Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers FORBIDDEN continue their work at Sonic Room/Audio Voyage Studios in Livermore, California recording their upcoming new album Omega Wave.  Album artwork has been commissioned from Kent Mathieu (FORBIDDEN, Exodus, Autopsy, Exhorder).  The album is being produced by FORBIDDEN guitarist / songwriter Craig Locicero and Tim Narducci.  All tracks will be mixed by Sean Beavan (Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails).

States Locicero:

“After a year of writing and a couple of months recording this son of a bitchin' album, we've finally decided to call it Omega Wave.  It certainly would have been easy to self-title it, but anyone who knows anything about FORBIDDEN and our history understands that we spend a considerable amount of time thinking about these things. That's just what we do. Omega Wave seemed most fitting and it's one of the thrashiest songs on the record!  An ‘omega wave’ is the feeling of impending doom that hangs over everyone in these difficult times, more so than any other era in history.  Many feel that our time is almost up, partly because it has been written and predicted in almost every ancient society; also because most people can tell which way the wind is blowing, if you know what I mean. So the question is, is this all really happening by design or is it a self-fulfilled, man-made hysteria that we are creating by accepting it in our collective consciousness? Either way, it's a black wave of negative energy that exists to billions of people. That is the Omega Wave.”

On why the band sought out the artist FORBIDDEN’s career began with:
“Within the last few months, we've reconnected with the original artist who painted the artwork for our first two albums, Forbidden Evil and Twisted Into Form: Kent Mathieu. I love the work he's done with everyone, but there is no denying that the first two covers he did for Forbidden are a couple of the most iconic pieces for our genre. Getting Kent on board was a coupe and he gets us like no other artist could.  He’s got a pile of lyrics to inspire him and he fully understands the Omega Wave concept.  I can't wait to see what he comes up with. Should be perfect!”

On the dedication of co-producer Tim Narducci:
“Tim and I have know each other since '86, when I was in Forbidden Evil and he was in Tyrannicide!  We were under-aged kids drinking beer in the Ruthie’s Inn parking lot!  That’s some history and he knows his metal!  Some of my peers have been grilling me on what it's like to produce a record for the first time. It's time consuming and somewhat difficult to get the performances out of someone you've known since you were kids, but I am not doing this alone.  Tim Narducci has been by my side every step of the way.  We help each other stay focused and motivated. He's excellent and catching the little things and bringing the big picture together. We also have a great engineer and person in Brad Barth, who is a recording wizard and also owns Audio Voyage/Sonic Room (where we're tracking).  I really love working with these guys.  Tim, Brad, and I have been playing together in SpiralArms since 2005. We've learned a lot about ourselves and recording over the last 5 years and recently completed Spiral's first full length album that comes out this summer. We started recording and finished that album before we began the FORBIDDEN record.”

On the talents of mixer Sean Beavan:

“Once we finish the recording process, everything gets into the hands of a true genius. I still can't believe how lucky we are to have Sean to do it. Sonically, he's very unique and on a different level.  He's produced, engineered, and mixed some of the best sounding material out there.  I met Sean through my work with Rick Rubin on the Manmade God record I did in 2003.  Sean mixed it and we became friends.  I learned a lot from him and he really listened to my input when Rick asked him not to (ha, ha).  Sean will make the Forbidden record sound like nothing else going, and that's a great thing!  Hopefully everyone will appreciate how cool and organic the tones and performances are. We set out not to make a record that sounds like anyone else besides Forbidden. I don't feel like it could be in any better hands than Sean's to keep the integrity of what we started all the way to the finish line.”

As a final comment on the new album, Locicero adds: “Whatever Omega Wave turns out to be will ultimately rest upon my shoulders. I picked the team and that's fine with me.  I can live with that.”

Song titles on the new FORBIDDEN album are as follows:

·         Alpha Century

·         Forsaken At The Gates

·         Swine

·         Immortal Wounds

·         Hopenosis

·         Adapt Or Die

·         Inhuman Race

·         Behind The Mask

·         Dragging My Casket

·         Overthrow

·         Omega Wave

The 2010 line-up for FORBIDDEN is Russ Anderson on vocals; Craig Locicero, guitar; Steve Smyth, guitar; Matt Camacho on bass; and Mark Hernandez, drums.

Southern Lord Recordings is proud to re-unleash the long out-of-print GOATSNAKE album Flower Of Disease!

The third official release from the almighty GOATSNAKE, this slick, thunderous eight-song slab of doom was initially released in 2000 on the now defunct Man's Ruin label, with Southern Lord handling the vinyl release. Recorded at Hollywood's Grand Master Studios, and engineered by Nick Raskulinecz (Danzig, Foo Fighters, Probot, Alice In Chains), Flower Of Disease showcased GOATSNAKE elevating their already professional songwriting to new levels, deeply stirring those already following the act's every move and vacuuming in new countless new fans. This is "the release" that would solidify the GOATSNAKE name as one of the top bands of the '90s stoner/doom movement.

The GOATSNAKE lineup on Flower Of Disease features members Greg Anderson (SUNN O))), Thorr's Hammer, Southern Lord Recordings), Pete Stahl (Scream, Wool, Desert Sessions), Greg Rogers (The Obsessed), and Stuart Dahlquist (Burning Witch, Asva), as well as guest contributions from Petra Haden and Dave Catching (Eagles of Death Metal, QOTSA, Mondo Generator).

GOATSNAKE recently floored a sold-out audience at their first show in over five years at 2010's Roadburn Festival earlier this month in Tilburg, Holland. Check out killer new live footage from the appearance and more at this location: http://www.earsplitcompound.com/site/?p=590

SALEM ROSE MUSIC PUBLISHING signs agreements

with EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT and I, YOUR LIEGE

Salem Rose Music Publishing has announced its publishing cooperation with two very promising new clients – EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT and I, YOUR LIEGE.

EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT should be no strangers for those who keep up with underground metal as the technical death/grind quartet from California have been steadily building a very strong story over the past seven years between their two releases and their multiple tours, festival appearances and reviews.  Having just completed recording their second full-length album, Vivid Enterpretations of the Void, based upon the book Reptilian Agenda,  the band are seeking a new record company to release the album. In the meantime, Embryonic Devourment will embark on their next tour co-headlining with Sepsism starting this weekend. Two new songs, “Militarized Reptoids” and “Darken Thy Fluids” have been posted on their myspace page.

"We have no doubt that Salem Rose Music will take our band to a higher level. We've seen Marco help bands attain new heights and that is exactly what we are trying to do,” states singer/bassist Austin Spence.  “We are overjoyed to be finally working with someone who has achieved legendary status in the metal industry through hard work and dedication. Marco is a cool dude with good vibes, and that’s important in the cutthroat world of Entertainment. "

I, Your Liege’s story is a little different as this very young band hails from New York City but in their relative short time together have made an impact on the area’s five boroughs by performing on a number of good shows. Armed with a great sounding EP the quintet have set their minds on breaking out of their area and spreading their reputation.

Guitarist Mike Howley had this to add, “We couldn’t be happier working with Marco and his company. His experience and knowledge of the music industry speaks for itself, and we’re really excited about the future of I, Your Liege.”

Salem Rose Music began in 2007 as a management company handling the affairs of WARBRINGER, as well as establishing a Music Publishing division handling the administration of works for emerging artists including DIABOLIC, HEXEN, DEVASTATOR, AVENGER OF BLOOD, SEVENTH CALLING and REVENANCE. Since the company, a creative venture from industry vet Marco Barbieri to assist young bands in their ambitions, has begun managing additional artists, including ABIGAIL WILLIAMS and PATHOLOGY, as well as entertaining new avenues like promoting local shows, consulting and producing.

Regain Records Signs Sweden's NECRONAUT

After more than 20 active years within the death metal scene, former Dismember/Carnage drummer Fred Estby needed to express his passion for different kinds of extreme music; a passion he's bore since his youth. In 2008, Estby started writing/recording material with the intention of utilizing one unique vocalist for each song. Dubbed NECRONAUT, the project would become a reality just one year later when the drummer began contacting the many talented metal musicians he had in mind.

Estby is currently finalizing the self-titled NECRONAUT full-length, slated for release later this year via Regain Records. The already-completed cover art was created by Chet Zar, known for his makeup effects for movies such as The Ring, Planet of the Apes and Darkman [http://www.chetzar.com]. Musically, NECRONAUT is a raw slab of old-school metal and while the term “old-school” alone goes a long way in accurately describing the sound that one should expect from Estby and Co., the project is so much more. NECRONAUT's approach is crude and dead simple a la early Bathory and Venom fused with Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, but with an unorthodox, bass-heavy production that allows the album to stand out amongst its peers. The goal was primitive brute force, but because of the manner in which Estby chose to achieve it, he also managed to create an aura of pure malevolence that, prior to this album’s creation, was likely difficult to imagine. The list of musicians we want to mention for now includes:

Vocalists:

Chris Reifert (Abscess, Autopsy)

Hellbutcher (Nifelheim)

Tompa Lindberg (Disfear, Lock up)

Nicke Andersson (Imperial State Electric, ex-Entombed etc.)

Solo Guitarists:

Tyrant (Nifelheim, Dagger)

Uffe Cederlund (Disfear, ex-Entombed, Principals of Existence)

Robert Pehrsson (Death Breath, Dundertåget)

Robert “Strings” Dahlqvist (Dundertåget)

David Blomqvist (Dismember, Dagger)

Los Angeles, CA’s ABYSMAL DAWN will begin recording the follow-up album to their Relapse debut Programmed To Consume this May at Trench Studio in Corona, CA with John Haddad (PHOBIA, INTRONAUT, HIRAX). The album will be mixed by Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, VITAL REMAINS, CANNIBAL CORPSE) at his Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, FL. A fall release date is expected.

ABYSMAL DAWN’s Charles Elliot commented on the upcoming album; “It's always great to work with John Haddad, whom we've worked with on our previous two releases. This time we thought we'd try something a little different though as far as the mix goes. After to speaking to Erik Rutan at great length we know he's the man for the job. He's a living legend and knows how real death metal should sound! Everyone in the band is really excited to be working with him and we know this is going to be our most crushing release yet. We've been hard at work demoing all the material before we enter the studio and things sound amazing already! This will be our catchiest yet most extreme and technical release to date.

We’re also happy to be working with our new drummer Scott Fuller (ex-HAVOK, ex-SKITZO, ex-ASHES OF ICONS). Scott comes from more of a thrash background but was born to play death metal and has never had the outlet for that until now. So far it’s been a real pleasure to be in a band with someone with the same fire for this music as Mike and I again. A fitting replacement for Terry with even more chops to boot.”

Additional recording details will be made available shortly. Audio samples and video from the band’s Programmed To Consume album can be viewed online now via the ABYSMAL DAWN MySpace page: MySpace.com/AbysmalDawn

Death Metal Supergroup CRUCIFYRE Join The Pulverised Roster

Pulverised Records is proud to welcome Stockholm, Sweden's CRUCIFYRE to their prestigious underground roster. Formed in 2006, the band features the crushing lineup of vocalist Erik Tormentor Sahlström (General Surgery, Maze Of Torment, Serpent Obscene et al), guitarists TG (The Sun, Morbid) and Urban Skytt (Crematory, Regurgitate, Nasum), bassist Henrik Doltz Nilsson (Dobermann Cult) and drummer Yasin Hillborg (Afflicted).

Commented Hillborg of the signing: "Working with Pulverised  feels great. It's like we've come home and have been given the chance to do what we do best: deliver auditory terror in the most evil and aggressive way."

Added Pulverised label manager Roy Yeo: "With present and past members from such highly respected bands, it is really interesting to see what these guys could come up with. I can only say that the debut album has exceeded my expectations! CRUCIFYRE is exactly the kind of band that displayed the attitude of those early demo bands and with the integral nastiness that death metal should be known for."

CRUCIFYRE's debut full-length will be released via Pulverised Records later this year. Further info to follow....

Danish modern metallers MNEMIC recently teamed up with renowned Swedish director/producer Patric Ullaeus of the Revolver Film Company (Dimmu Borgir, Lacuna Coil, In Flames) to film a video for "Diesel Uterus," a track off their latest album Sons Of The System.

Commented guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie: "It's been super-fun doing this video, and actually it came out to be one of the best MNEMIC videos, in my humble opinion."  Behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot can be viewed here.

Sons Of The System, MNEMIC’s fourth studio album, debuted at No. 64 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.  Sons Of The System was recorded at MNEMIC's own studio and at the Antfarm facility in Aarhus, Denmark with Danish producer Tue Madsen (Kataklysm, The Haunted, Behemoth, Halford) - who also worked on the MNEMIC’s 2003 release Mechanical Spin Phenomena and The Audio Injected Soul in 2004.

KINGS OF MODESTY FINISH NEW VIDEO FOR STANDOUT TRACK, “NEVER TOUCHED THE RAINBOW”

Finland’s finest prog metal export, Kings of Modesty, are gearing up to take it to the next level toward their quest for global domination, with a striking new video for a standout track from their forthcoming full length debut (‘Hell or High Water’), titled “Never Touched the Rainbow.” Shot in an unmistakably David Lynch-esque style, the story line focuses on a gentleman who turns out to be delusional, and is “hanging between two worlds.” Directed by Carda Helenius, the video was shot in Helsinki (at Hotel Vaakuna and Finland's top nightclub, Tiger), while the main characters are played by Karri Leino and Päivi Salminen.

Comprised of members Jason Flinck (vocals), Samuel Hjelt (guitar), Mikael Hjelt (keyboards), Henrik Tuura (bass), and Raino Simoinen (drums), Kings of Modesty will be releasing ‘Hell or High Water’ on May 4th in the US, and are aiming to tour behind it. “Hammering melodic metal” (in the vein of Queensryche, Dream Theater, and Kamelot) is a spot-on description of the style that the quintet specialize in, and the song “Never Touched the Rainbow” - and its accompanying video - serve as the perfect taster for this fast-rising group of headbangers.

DIABOLIC has returned from our Tour Dates with CANNIBAL CORPSE on the “Evisceration Plague” Tour and it was a great success!!

Due to 1349 not being able to join the Tour on the first few dates, DIABOLIC were invited to join the Tour at the last minute, and we were able to play the following shows:

After 1349 was able to join the Tour in NY, unfortunately that meant the end of the Tour for us - we had stepped up and done exactly what we had set out to do, and it was time to head back to Tampa - but as a bonus, the fans in NY got to see DIABOLIC as well as 1349 on the same bill!!

DIABOLIC played classic favorites such as “Supreme Evil”, “Marked for Banishment”, “Ancient Hatred”, and “Extinction Level Event”, in addition to showcasing new songs such as “Evil in Disguise” and the Title Track from our upcoming new CD, “Excisions of Exorcisms”. At our headlining show in Philly we played an extended set, to include even more new songs, such as “Hellish World”, “Venomous Habitations”, and “Bloodwashed”. It was great for the band to get back out on the road, and seeing our fans (old and new) was awesome!! We got a great response, sold almost completely out of merchandise, handed out dozens of copies of Deathgasm Recs Promo/Comp CD’s featuring Track #1 our new song “Evil in Disguise” and got a killer buzz going for our new CD, “Excisions of Exorcisms”!!

DIABOLIC would like to give special thanks to the bands: LECHEROUS NOCTURNE, for opening the show for us every night, even letting us borrow their guitar and bass cabs to help the shows run more smoothly (thanks bros!) and to SKELETONWITCH for being so cool and supportive, and especially to CANNIBAL CORPSE, for inviting us to play these Tour Dates!! Thank you to Evan from Deathgasm Records for hooking us up with killer merchandise, to Marco Barbieri and Salem Rose Music, for helping us to make it happen! Thanks to the promoters, Chris in Philly for hooking us up at the last minute! Also special thanks to Jarrod Pritchard for running live sound for us every night! Thanks to Nick Storch at ICM Talent, and to CANNIBAL’s Tour Manager, Pete Robertson, for helping us get onboard and up to speed!! A huge mega-thanks to Aly Webster for the cool live pics!! And thanks to Alex, Pat, Paul, George, and Rob for just being killer dudes and delivering a crushing set every night!! We thank you very much for the opportunity, and we’ll see you again next time!!

Stay tuned to our web sites on MySpace (www.myspace.com/diabolic666) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/diabolic.metal) for live photos from the shows,

and our new CD “EXCISIONS OF EXORCISMS” coming soon on Deathgasm Records!!!

Florida based death metal legends MALEVOLENT CREATION have once again been rejoined by original bassist Jason Blachowicz. Blachowicz initially left on good terms to further his tattoo career, but the death metal sickness still runs deep in his veins!

CHRISTIAN MISTRESS Sign To 20 Buck Spin; Premiere Track Via Stereogum

Bursting out of Olympia, Washington come classic metal heathens CHRISTIAN MISTRESS, fueled with pure American heavy metal fire, and ready to dose the planet up with their infectious tunes. This cult buzz band has plenty of support behind them in their infancy; from a supportive local scene that's ready to embrace a local classic heavy metal outfit, to infamous illustrator Dennis Dread, to national publications like NPR who recently praised the band's debut 7", to Darkthrone's outspoken frontman Fenriz, who has name-dropped the band in multiple features over recent months.

20 Buck Spin proudly embraces this act, signing them to the label recently in preparation to release their debut full-length Agony & Opium this August. Bering six infectious, long-burning, classic heavy metal ragers sure to stand out against the label's mainly black/death/doom/sludge-dominated roster. The shredding dual guitar lead trade-offs, performed with the utmost class, never lose sight of memorable songcraft first and foremost. Anchored by a tight, driving rhythm section and the raw and throaty instantly memorable vocal delivery of Christine Davis, the CHRISTIAN MISTRESS sound is immediately familiar and yet sounds like no other heavy metal band currently working, comparable to acts like Angel Witch, Warlock, Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Diamond Head and more.

Stereogum.com today premiered the track "Home In The Sun" from the upcoming Agony & Opium album. Check the feature out at this direct link:

BLACK SKIES: North Carolina Disciples Of Doom Announce Summer Tour

North Carolina disciples of doom, BLACK SKIES, are set to embark on a US tour throughout the month of July. The tour will commence at The Smiling Moose in Pittsburgh and hit 22 cities before closing in Nashville, TN at Springwater Supper Club. The band will hit the road with a new lineup, new songs and a high energy live display of sonic power they've built their name upon. Founding members Kevin Clark and Michelle Temple will be joined by ex-Des Ark drummer Tim Herzog. Former roommates, Kevin and Tim have remained in contact over the years and are very much looking forward to the opportunity to finally make music together. BLACK SKIES' new material retains the heaviness of their earlier work, with more dynamic song structures and a psychedelic edge creating a more interesting overall sound. Following the tour, the band will begin preparations for recording what they hope to be their best release to date.

Says guitarist Kevin Clark of the upcoming trek: " We've had our share of ups and downs over the past 12 months, but getting out west last year was without a doubt one of the better moments. We are thrilled to be heading out there again this summer, seeing the faces and places that made it such a blast. We played with a lot of great bands and met a lot of awesome souls with a true love and hunger for music. Those people are a big part of the drive for us to continue doing what we love to do, and we are eternally grateful for them."

BLACK SKIES
released their Hexagon EP on vinyl last year via underground Chicago imprint I'm Better Than Everyone Records. Featuring songs made of heavy, well-thought out (and equally well-executed) riffs alongside churning organic grooves, Hexagon sports a tonal chemistry befitting of a legendary band sharing the same initials, yet with a decidedly American flavor. Through hard work and a DIY drive, BLACK SKIES continue gaining momentum with their live output.

LEGENDARY GUITARIST ROBBY KRIEGER

SET TO RELEASE NEW SOLO ALBUM SINGULARITY ON OGLIO RECORDS, JUNE 29th, 2010

LOS ANGELES, CA (June, 2010) Robby Krieger returns with a new instrumental solo album, Singularity, on Oglio Records, a Fontana/Universal distributed label.  On Singularity, Robby continues to explore his unique flamenco infused jazz-rock sound as heard on his previous album for Oglio Records, Cinematix. Singularity was produced by Robby Krieger and Arthur Barrow, features an original Krieger painting as the cover art and will also be available on vinyl.

"SINGULARITY" was named after my painting which we used for the album cover. A singularity is a profound event such as the "big bang", which was the creation of the universe. I could have started with something smaller, such as, say the destruction of a galaxy or two, but I figured what the hell. Hopefully, the music evokes thoughts along those lines. I’m very happy, that after all these years I was able to record some flamenco guitar, which comprises the intros for two of the songs, 'Russian Caravan" and "Event Horizon" . I’m also very happy with some of the slide guitar such as on "Southern Cross" and "Waterslide"  - Robby Krieger

During his time as The Doors guitarist, Robby wrote some of the band’s best known songs including “Light My Fire”, “Love Me Two Times”, “Love Her Madly” and “Touch Me”. He was also voted in at #91 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time and in 2009, Robby partnered with the Gibson Guitar Corporation to release his very own limited edition signature guitar, the ‘Inspired By Krieger SG’.

Robby Krieger rejoins his fellow The Doors member, Ray Manzarek, who also released his own solo record, “Love Her Madly” on Oglio Records, in their group Manzarek-Krieger for a new tour beginning May 27th.

Singularity Track Listing

1. Russian Caravan (Intro) 3:24

2. Russian Caravan 10:12

KILLING MACHINE PREPARE FOR EUROPEAN DEBUT

KILLING MACHINE - the US metal band featuring ex members of Slayer, Testament ,Startovarius and Temple Of Brutality, recently relocated to Europe and have issued an update on preparations for their upcoming European debut. The band are confirmed to play several high profile shows throughout the summer and launches with two shows in France later this month as support to AC / DC.

Having had a few days to settle in to their new European surroundings, guitarist Peter Scheithauer  found time to talk about the move saying "We got to our base in France about a week ago and headed straight in to rehearsals. We had a few small problems at first but it's going really well now and we can't wait to get out there and play some shows. Since we made the decision to fully concentrate on Killing Machine, we started getting a lot of interest from around Europe. So it made sense to set up base over here rather than going backwards and forwards across the Atlantic. We've got some busy times ahead and we're really looking forward to spreading our metal around Europe."

On the subject of their upcoming European debut Scheithauer said: "Well it's taken two albums but we finally get the chance to show our European fans what we are all about. We've had many requests to come over in the past but never got round to it. But we're finally here and what away to kick it all off - supporting AC/DC!!! We're all hyped up and looking forward to hanging out with the European metalheads."

WATAIN: Lawless Darkness Unleashed

Band Devours Baltimore; Nabs Cover Of This Month's Edition of Decibel Magazine

The wait is now over: Lawless Darkness, the long-anticipated fourth full-length from Swedish black metal battalion WATAIN,  is out now through Season Of Mist. The ten-track, hour-plus long work of blasphemy was recorded at Necromorbus Studio (Deathspell Omega, Funeral Mist, Ondskapt, Nominon, Unanimated et al) in Alvik, Sweden and features strikingly detailed cover art by Zbigniew M. Bielak.

The band ushered in the release of Lawless Darkness with a soul-crushing headlining set the first night of the Maryland Deathfest on Memorial Day weekend. Commented frontman E. of the performance: "Back from the States now, still with blisters and bruises from the victorious storm unleashed at Maryland Deathfest. Hail to the legions of WATAIN supporters who came out to partake in our performance; you have truly grown both in number and dedication! We very much look forward to return for a full scale onslaught later this year. More about that later..." Commented Canada's Hellbound.ca of the spectacle: "With lit candles, militant red flag-like things, and some corpse paint that I’m sure even Tom Savini would compliment, their visual aesthetic was certainly in tow...the crowd enhanced the horror movie like mood as it tossed a Bible around, tearing it to shreds, sending the ripped pages into the air like confetti at a kid’s birthday party...The music: appropriately blasphemous."

In conjunction with the release of Lawless Darkness, WATAIN appears on the cover of the July 2010 issue of Decibel Magazine which went on sale last week. The eight-page feature was conducted by J. Bennett and is clearly one of the most revealing pieces on the band to date. To order a copy, visit: http://store.decibelmagazine.com/collections/back-issues/products/july-2010-069

"Lawless Darkness shall be seen as a monument erected in honor of that collapse and a dedication to all those brave souls, who have willingly dared to venture the winding paths towards it." -- E. Danielsson, WATAIN

Let there be sacrifice.

..........

"Darkthrone were once 'for all the evil in man," but WATAIN turn good men evil." -- 8/10 Decibel

"No band in the 'troo' black metal scene carries as much weight as WATAIN at the moment. Sparing the drama of Burzum, and the inconsistency of Dimmu and Mayhem, WATAIN finds itself in the same spot Emperor found itself in at the end of '90s." -- Blistering

"With this record, E. Danielsson and WATAIN have definitely created a blasphemous juggernaut that is not to be taken lightly. The band are clearly staking their claim to more territory in the battle for the black metal crown." -- Forbidden

WE ARE BEASTS!

Miami rock trio, Shroud Eater, offers free download of debut EP

MIAMI – Shroud Eater, South Florida’s DIY grunge/stoner rock trio, is offering a free download of their debut self-titled EP, in anticipation of the release of their debut full-length record, ThunderNoise, due out this fall.  Inspired by all things dark and dirty, including 70’s heavy metal, and 90’s grunge/stoner rock, the three-song EP can be downloaded at: http://www.raig.ru/AT_shroudeater.asp

“We had always seen the EP as a way to distribute our music for free to as many people as possible - it's a basic primer on who Shroud Eater is as a band, and hopefully it left people curious and interested in hearing what we can really bring to the table,” states guitarist/vocalist Jeannie Saiz.  “For the ThunderNoise sessions, we have some surprises up our sleeves, and are positive that the finished album will rock your ass off.”

The EP was recorded last year at Relax, Bro! recording studio, in the band’s hometown of Miami, and it was mixed and mastered by Jonathan Nunez.  Artwork comes courtesy of Shroud Eater’s own Jeannie Saiz.

ShroudEater-albumcover-web

The track list for the EP is…

1.)    We Are Beasts

2.)    Vesuvius

3.)    Cyclone

“The EP is a sludgy, doom-a-riffic slab of bottom-feeding metal that could have been reared in the mucky Florida swamps alongside alligators and slithery snakes.” – Noisecreep.com

“Two ladies and one dude kick up a mighty hurricane in Miami. They're like if Kylesa cut out the prog and played straight-up noise rock.” – Decibel Magazine

“There's also something very South Florida in them in the vein of Cavity and Black Cobra.  The opening demonic sizzler ‘We Are Beasts’ (I feel the same way) and ‘Vesuvius’ are excellent compositions, and Ms. Saiz's vocals are soul-damaging, which is a good thing in this context.” Miami New Times

The EP is also available for streaming on the band’s official MySpace page at: http://www.myspace.com/shroudeaterrocks, while a music video for the record’s opening track, “We Are Beasts”, can be viewed at: http://vimeo.com/7033153 (directed and edited by Alvarez Bros. Productions).

Shroud Eater solidified their line-up in January 2009, sporting a sound of down-tuned, overdriven guitars, a thunderous rhythm section, and raw vocals of impassioned fury.  After only a few short months, the band hit the Miami rock scene like a hurricane with the release of their debut EP later that winter.

Shroud Eater will once again head into Relax, Bro! this summer to begin recording their full length debut, ThunderNoise.  The band will call on the acclaimed Nick Zampiello (Torche, Converge, Against Me) of New Alliance East for mastering.

            Stay tuned for more information!

SOILWORK VOCALIST GUESTS ON NEW REVAMP ALBUM

REVAMP Album Artwork - 3x3 @ 300 dpi.jpg

Björn “Speed” Strid of Swedish modern metallers SOILWORK makes a guest appearance on the debut album by REVAMP, former After Forever singer Floor Jansen’s new band.  REVAMP’s self-titled new album will be released in North America on July 27th.

Strid shares: “Actually, I have never met Floor in real life, but I do remember being impressed when I heard her voice the first time, though.  She's got balls.  She had a certain song in mind [‘In Sickness ‘Till Death Do Us Part: Disdain’], sent me the music and a lyric sheet while I was in the studio with SOILWORK, and gave me a bit of guidance but also wanted me to improvise a bit.  I spent a day working out my lines in a tower of the house we were renting in Mooresville, North Carolina also known as ‘The Genie Room."  Perfect.  I recorded the vocals sometime in February while drinking some wine.  With the intense verse and the open atmospheric chorus, it felt perfect as a duet!  To me it's about betrayal and being let down.”

States Jansen: “I am always inspired to write new music, but I must say that the end of After Forever and some personal changes in my life did give extra ingredients. Every song I heard could become a source of inspiration. Stories of others, movies or books, my personal relationships, everything mixed and melted into one and became an album. ‘Speed’ from SOILWORK brings another form of power to the album’s diversity with his screams/growl and clean voice.  He masters so many different vocal sounds, just like me. Again, a lot of power together in one song. He gave ‘Disdain’ the energy and aggression it needed!”

Also performing guest vocals on Revamp is Russell Allen from SYMPHONY X and George Oosthoek from ORPHANAGE & PLEURISY.

The track listing for Revamp is:

01. Here's My Hell
featuring George Oosthoek from ORPHANAGE & PLEURISY
02. Head Up High
03. Sweet Curse
- featuring Russell Allen from SYMPHONY X
04. Million
05. In Sickness ‘Till Death Do Us Part: All Goodbyes Are Said
06. Break
07. In Sickness ‘Till Death Do Us Part: Disdain
- featuring Björn “Speed” Strid from SOILWORK
08. In Sickness ‘Till Death Do Us Part: Disgraced
09. Fast Forward
10. Kill Me With Silence
11. The Trial Of Monsters
12. Under My Skin
13. I Lost Myself
Bonus Track: No Honey For The Damned

The track "Head Up High" – the song from this record Floor Jansen would choose to put into an astronaut’s iPod at the International Space Station to represent all of humanity - is available for free download here (e-mail sign-up required).  It’s diverse, heavy, new, short and catchy, but still heavy and very metal.

View Part 1 of an interview with Floor Jansen where she discusses her new band, REVAMP, here.  Part 2 is available here.

The REVAMP team includes:

SUICIDAL ANGELS: Official Release To Reign Hell On North America

Greek old-school thrash assassins SUICIDAL ANGELS' new full-length Sanctify The Darkness will see North American release on Sonic Unyon Metal in mere weeks.

Already released across Europe on Nuclear Blast in November of 2009, the album will see official release in North America on June 22nd, 2010, and will mark SUICIDAL ANGELS' first official North American release, versus being imported from Europe on previous releases. The band's solid, no-bullshit attack has already reaped massive press and fan response across much of the world, and the crunchy, hellish riff attacks on the eleven meaty tracks composing Sanctify The Darkness will now attack the Americas, who are always prime for a pungent new thrash unit to infiltrate and go on the rampage. Denim and leather-clad bullet-belt rockers of the land everywhere are surely ready to embrace the jaw-clenching riff attacks and swift thrash justice SUICIDAL ANGELS execute.

The North American version of Sanctify The Darkness will include two bonus music videos for album tracks "Apokathilosis" and "Beyond The Laws of Church".

EXODUS' GARY HOLT ON RONNIE JAMES DIO: "HE'S A LION OF A VOCALIST"

Gary Holt of EXODUS - 4 inch @ 300 dpi.jpg

In a recent interview with Synthesis.net that previews the band’s record release show in Chico, California, EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt talk about the European response to the band, the oil fuck-up in the gulf, and the late, great Ronnie James Dio.

Here’s an excerpt:

I went up to introduce myself [at The Foundation Forum in L.A.] because he’s one of my heroes. Rainbow is like my favorite band of all time.  ‘Hi, my name’s Gary.  I’m supporting you on this next [Dehumanizer] tour and I’m really excited about it.’  He was like, ‘Yeah, it will be great, it will be a lot of fun.’  Three weeks, maybe even longer, later, it’s the first day of the tour and he waved and said hi and goes, ‘Hey Gary, how’s it goin’?’ (Chuckles)  I didn’t expect him to remember my name the whole tour, but he remembered it from a conversation a month earlier.  That’s that kind of guy he was.  He’s a lion of a vocalist… the greatest metal vocalist of all time.  It’s a tragic loss for heavy metal and the hard rock world.

Read the entire interview here.

On Friday, June 11th, Stickam.com will stream the EXODUS record release show live from Hollywood at The Key Club beginning at 10:45 p.m. PACIFIC.  The band’s final record release show will be this Saturday, June 12th in San Francisco at Slim's with Heathen, Anvil Chorus, and Passive Aggressive.  Tickets are on sale here.

EXODUS recently announced they will help kick off Ozzfest 2010 with a one-off appearance on the 2nd Stage at San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California on Saturday, August 14th

THE BODY: Release Details Confirmed + New Track Available

As the official At A Loss Recordings release from Providence, Rhode Island's THE BODY draws near, details on the release and on the band's sinister plot slowly fall into place.

Already being dubbed as an incredibly original and ultimately creepy by those who have acquired an LP, the dense, diverse seven tracks on All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood could ultimately be one of the most twisted releases in recent doom metal history. While the main destruction caused by THE BODY is born of its two main members, the unit frequently join forces with other rogue assassins and collectives of musical militia on stage to bring their hymns to life. On All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood, the duo have teamed up with The Assembly Of Light Choir, adding a totally mind engulfing, spine-chilling and downright freaky twist to the band's devastating doom.

This afternoon, Brooklyn Vegan is helping us spread the word on this tumultuous act by premiering the second track from All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood entitled "A Curse." Tune in and drop out: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2010/06/the_body_releas.html

Also view the album artwork, new band photos, live video and more at this location: http://www.earsplitcompound.com/site/?p=813

All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood is set to see an official CD release via At A Loss on July 27th, 2010. The LP version is already available from the band directly and via At A Loss mailorder, and a digital download version will also be available in the coming weeks. In support of the release the band will set out on a 2-3 month tour of The States beginning in late July. The full routing will be announced shortly.

All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood Track Listing:

1. A Body
2. A Curse
3. Empty Hearth
4. Even Saints Knew Their Hour Of Failure And Loss
5. Song Of Sarin The Brave
6. Ruiner
7. Lathspell I Name You

"... be prepared to look beyond the realms of traditional doom, or of conventional heaviness, because The Body are anything but traditional or conventional, and All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood just might be the coolest, weirdest, most original doom record EVER." - Aquarius Records

The Godfathers of Swedish modern metal, SOILWORK, are currently working on a music video for the song “Deliverance Is Mine” to be directed by Ivan Colic (EX DEO, TYPE O NEGATIVE, UNLEASHED) and produced by Stanimir Lucik. The track comes off their latest upcoming release The Panic Broadcast. A few still photos from the story board stage of the project are attached. The band recently talked a little bit about the concept behind the new clip:

“Our new video ‘Deliverance Is Mine’ will be the follow-up to 2003’s CGI animated masterpiece ‘Light The Torch’. We’ve always loved that clip and it’s really exciting to be able to give it a sequel! The song is about people living through others like parasites, a perfect setting for the evil scientist and his humanoid servant to continue their cruel experiments. So far the first drafts look jaw-dropping and we have no doubt that the team over at Rock The Nation will do an amazing job on ‘Deliverance Is Mine’!”

The Panic Broadcast is the first album to feature original guitarist, songwriter & producer Peter Wichers since his return to the band in 2008 and is set to be released on July 2 (EUROPE) and July 13 (N. America) via Nuclear Blast! Produced by Wichers and mixed by Jen Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, KATATONIA, SYMPHONY X), this is the record long time SOILWORK fans have been waiting for! Pre-order the regular or deluxe edition with or without an exclusive shirt design at the following location http://bit.ly/c6FJeo.  First 500 orders will receive an autographed poster while supplies last.

PRO-PAIN: North American Release Date Confirmed

A confirmed North American release date for the massive thirteenth full-length from longtime crossover champions PRO-PAIN, Absolute Power, has been set for later this summer.

To be released in North America this August 10th, 2010 via Regain Records, Absolute Power explores several sides to the tried-and-true American unit's somewhat patented sound. While a vast chunk of the album immediately recalls standard PRO-PAIN NYC-style metal/hardcore crossover attacks, many elements at play on Absolute Power infiltrate totally new ground for the band. Recorded at Little Creek Studio in Gelterkinden, Switzerland, the record features ten thunderous anthems, bridging the gap between the hardcore club and the massive rock arena.

Formed by vocalist/bassist Gary Meskil (ex-Crumbsuckers), New York-based PRO-PAIN have over the years benefited from substantial support from an ever-growing and loyal fanbase as well as metal media and radio. Today, now joined by long term guitarist Tom Klimchuck, as well as newer members Marshall Stephens on rhythm guitar and Ricky Halverson (ex-Narcotic Self, Cellador, Stephen Pearcy's RATT) on drums, the band's worldwide catalog sales approaches one million units.

Plans for the band to tour the US and Europe extensively in support of Absolute Power are beyond imminent, they're a reality, as the band has secured a stack of German dates this summer [see below]. More tour actions are in the planning stages and will be announced shortly.

Santa Cruz CA’s tech-death masters, DECREPIT BIRTH, have revealed the artwork for their upcoming Polarity album, to be released on July 27th in North America on Nuclear Blast Records. The artwork was completed by cult artist Dan Seagrave (MORBID ANGEL, ENTOMBED, SUFFOCATION, etc.) and can be viewed here http://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=374702. Guitarist Matt Sotelo explained the meaning behind the cover:

"Dan's art fits the overall theme of the album perfectly. We had approached Dan with some ideas at a show of ours he attended. It was really cool to finally meet Dan in person and get the chance to explain to him some of our song themes as well as ideas for the new album cover. We could tell that he was excited to help us on this one! The cover depicts images of ancient energies and balance, which is something that is personal for us, and perfectly reflects our abstract lyrical and musical style. Dan's art is so unmistakable!"

Artist Dan Seagrave offered an even more in depth reasoning behind his artistic interpretation:
“It is the vision of a transcendental nightmare. where the perception of technological power has gone beyond the will of the author. In the slumbering cohesive minds of the human race, and the absence of communicative truth between people, their social masks become their Sarcophagi. A telepathic cult is formed that fells the earth, reducing it to an atomic level. Its information trapped in mirrored shards. Through this energy, distant echos of images are glimpsed, particles reform, and a new chronozone period is born, set adrift at a dawnless epoch.”

Polarity Track Listing:
1. (A Departure of the Sun) Ignite the Tesla Coil
2. Metatron
3. The Resonance
4. Polarity
5. Solar Impulse
6. Mirroring Dimensions
7. A Brief Odyssey in Time
8. The Quickening of Time
9. Sea of Memories
10. Symbiosis
11. Darkness Embrace

Mail order edition bonus track:

12. See Through Dreams (DEATH Cover)

DECREPIT BIRTH recently shot a video clip for the song “The Resonance”. The video was directed by former VJ/producer for MTV Norway’s Headbangers Ball, Ann Christin "Anki" Rihm. FORBIDDEN ISSUE STUDIO REPORT #3

FORBIDDEN 2010 with logo - 5 inch @ 300 dpi.jpg

The following are excerpts of an on-going studio report written by Craig Locicero, guitarist/songwriter of the reunited Bay Area thrashers FORBIDDEN.  The band are currently at Sonic Room/Audio Voyage Studios in Livermore, California tracking bass, guitar, and vocals.  The as-yet-untitled album is being produced by Craig Locicero and Tim Narducci (Forbidden/Systematic/Spiral Arms).

Friday March 12th:  This was my week to begin tracking… I'd been jonesin' pretty hard after all those years. After we got back from L.A., I had to make numerous trips around the Bay grabbing pieces of gear and getting my guitars set up to be tracking worthy.  [I] only had one day off after 8 days on. Necessary evil, if you will.

So after I got all of the gear into Sonic Room/Audio Voyage, [producer] Tim Narducci, Brad Barth and myself started mixing and matching amps and cabs. We tried shit-tons of stuff… a short list of the possibilities to work with: 2 different Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifiers, Randall Ultra Module, Line 6/Bogner 100wt HD, '94 Peavy 5150, '10 EVH 5150 and my original '94 prototype Langner pre-amp! As far as cabs go we had Marshalls and Randalls stacked out the door.  This place has never had that much shit inside of it.  I used a combination of 3 amps and 4 cabs and it sounds awesome!  Very distinct, clear and crunchy mids.  I've never been more stoked about my tones.

Our good friend, Pat Coughlin, who produced and recorded Distortion [FORBIDDEN’s third studio album, released in 1995] and Green [FORBIDDEN’s fourth studio album from 1997] came down and brought a couple of mics for me to use.  [He] mixed us live on many occasions in our past and the entire '09 European run. It was great seeing him and we always have a good laugh. He tried to help us get a hum out of the line of amps.... When we finally did, it was fucking silent. That is very rare when using more then two amps in line.  After we got the tone close, we left to save our ears for the next day.

Saturday March 13th: After we re-tweaked the tone, we were off at the races. I double track everything, so it HAS to be perfect. We hit 'Overthrow' first and it went pretty quickly. It's more of a mid-tempo cruncher that barrels along like an earth mover. The middle of that song has some Randy Rhoads-era Ozzy-style chording in it, very dark and cool.  Next up was 'Omega Wave' which is very much a thrash-style song, an extremely fast muthafucker!  That was more of a challenge and a lot fun to play. Super heavy song.

Sunday March 14th: This day was a bit more challenging for me. We tracked a song called 'Swine' that has a lot of tempo changes and starts out super slow and heavy. I had a hell of a time making it as serpentine as I was hearing it, but we nailed it after half a day. 'Swine' is one of our favorite songs and worth all of the work to make right.  The next song is called 'Immortal Wounds' and is very much a Distortion-era style chugger.  Reminds me of “Hypnotized By The Rhythm' [the second track off of 1995’s Distortion] a little bit. Super tight, but with a thrash solo section that is one of the fastest we have. It strobes and does some really cool stuff.

View more studio pictures and read the full studio report here.

The 2010 line-up for FORBIDDEN is Russ Anderson on vocals; Craig Locicero, guitar; Steve Smyth, guitar; Matt Camacho on bass; and Mark Hernandez, drums.

ARISE
The Reckoning
Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, ARISE are best described as a cross between At The Gates, Hypocrisy and Carcass with a touch of Bay Area-style thrash. The Reckoning is the band's long-awaited fourth full-length. Recorded at Studio Mega, the 10-track disc features guest appearances by Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry, Carnal Forge), Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity) and Jake Fredém (Nostradameus) and blistering artwork by Chad Michael Ward. http://www.ariseonline.comhttp://www.myspace.com/ariseonline

ENTHRONED

Pentagrammaton
ENTHRONED, one of the first true Belgian black metal acts, present their ninth full-length in Pentagrammaton. A hellish storm of blasting beats that cruise along like with warhead aggression, ENTHRONED's sinister brand of black metal is powered by a diabolical aura that is theirs and theirs alone.  Scathing and hate-filled, Pentagrammaton is a good example of exactly what a good black metal should sound like.

RAGNAROK
Collectors Of The King

The godless heathens in Norway's RAGNAROK ("doom of the gods") proudly carry on the touch of early Satanic black metal. Forever influenced by the infernal rumblings of bands like Bathory, Venom and early Sodom, Collectors Of The King is RAGNAROK's sixth studio outing. Recorded at Endarker Studios by MARDUK bassist Devo Andersson, this album is a true black metal assault for fans of Darkthrone, Satyricon and Taake that will make you weak in the knees and rot your belly.

World Destruction

IMMORTAL’S DEMONAZ LAUGHS OVER INTERNET PARODIES

IMMORTAL Logo - 5 inch @ 150 dpi.tif

In Revolver Magazine’s interview with Demonaz of the Norwegian black metal band IMMORTAL, the lyricist and founding member goes on record about internet parodies and expresses a sense of humor about it.

He states: “All this manipulating of IMMORTAL pictures on the net and all this video stuff like ‘The Call Of The Wintermoon’ video we did, the first video… That was just a total mistake. It was out of our hands. There was this TV company who just wanted to do this thing with us and we said ‘OK.’  And it was out of our hands suddenly.  What can you do?  It came out, and now it’s on YouTube for everybody to see, and I thought, That’s shit. That’s fucked.  But then I saw they had manipulated it; they had made like a Benny Hill version of it with the Benny Hill music and the fast-forward filming.  And then I thought, Fucking hell, that’s funny. That’s really funny. Now I can finally laugh about it, too. [Laughs]”

Read the interview here.

Remaining tour dates for IMMORTAL’s Blashyrkh In North America 2010 are as follows:

New NECROPHOBIC Video Unleashed; Band To Play Maryland Deathfest 2010
Stockholm's blackened death metal warriors NECROPHOBIC have just launched a brand new video for the song “Revelation 666”, taken from their latest masterpiece Death To All! Check out the main page of the Earsplit Compound's YouTube arsenal: http://www.youtube.com/EarsplitPR

NECROPHOBIC are one of very few bands left from the early Swedish black/death metal underground scene that is still going strong. Sharing members of Nifelheim, Trident and more the band are considered a cult act from the old days, yet also remain a potent source for inspiration for today's scene. "Revelation 666" - the track this brutal new video accompanies - was described by Outburn Magazine as "...an awesome flurry of charred, angel stabbing thrash/death with a manic chorus and an epic outro".

The NECROPHOBIC crew will also be storming American shores this May as part of the almighty Maryland Deathfest, appearing alongside Watain, Possessed, Autopsy, Sodom, Obituary, Entombed and countless other top legendary and contemporary metal acts. Check the full lineup at: http://www.marylanddeathfest.com.

After nearly 20 years of existence and five very successful full-length albums NECROPHOBIC raises the flag of hate once again. It's time to show the world their brand new album Death To All! It's not just a title, it's a statement!

"...this one is a blast to endure and best played at maximum volume for the ultimate near-death experience. Thrash-influenced Swedish guitar riffs fill this disc to overflowing..." - SOD Magazine

"Death to All follows in the hoofprints of 2006’s Hrimthursum, hitching a bulletproof blackthrash rhythm section to Dissection’s obsidian guitar tonalities. Necrophobic’s attack has gotten sharper with age, their songs ever stronger." - Decibel Magazine

"...the band's undiminished passion for their demonic art bursts forth like that of most satanic metal whippersnappers half their age, which should guarantee Necrophobic's ability to keep bringing Death to All ages of extreme metal fans for many years to come." - All Music Guide

  EXODUS - Black Old School Logo - 5 inch @ 300 dpi.jpg

Gary Holt & Lee Altus, the men behind the relentless dual-guitar thrash attack in San Francisco’s EXODUS, recently sat down with Jordan Wagner of Premier Guitar in Chicago for a “Rig Rundown” video feature.

Holt discusses his upcoming Schecter signature guitar - an offshoot of the Hellraiser V in black with blood-red binding and “a nice goat head pentagram inlaid on the 12th fret” – the new EXODUS album, and the band’s recently released Live At Wacken DVD.  Watch Gary Holt’s video feature here.

Altus speaks about his love of ESP Guitars, his guitar preferences for studio work, and the guitar he’d like to have built.  Watch Lee Altus’ video feature here.

The ninth EXODUS studio album, Exhibit B: The Human Condition, is due out in North America on May 18th.  Holt states: “I think it’s leaps & miles ahead of the last one [The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A] … really aggressive and really fast … it’s really angry, really fired-up.”  A demo version of “Hammer And Life,” a new track dedicated to original singer Paul Baloff (R.I.P.), is posted on the band’s MySpace player

LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR Gory Video Premiere Details; Tour Update

One week from today -- on Thursday, April 1st -- the new LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR video will be unleashed via a special premiere on Decibel Magazine's "Deciblog." The video is for "Evil Power," the title track to the band's menacing upcoming fourth full-length release.

Directed by Ryan Oliver of cult horror cinema company Deathblow Productions, the video features more blood, gore, violence and nudity in under three-and-a-half minutes than some full-length slasher films, and shall prove to be one of the most cruel videos in the history of heavy metal. Watch innocent virgins being offered up to the massive minotaur for sacrifice. Reel in horror during the evisceration and dismemberment of these beauties while your head bangs uncontrollably to LOTM's thunderous soundtrack.

Stop by the Deciblog on April Fool's Day to witness the carnage!!!

http://decibelmagazine.com/blog/

And stop by the Earsplit Compound to check out the graphic flyer for the video, artwork and more: http://www.earsplitcompound.com/site/?p=318

Set for release April 13th on the band's own The Grind-House Records, Evil Power was recorded by Sanford Parker in the band's Chicago stomping grounds. Comprised of Centurions Steve Rathbone (vocals/bass), Chris Wozniak (drums) and introducing new bassist Nate Olp (Demiricous), LOTM's patented Greek mythology-inspired brutality continues on Evil Power, laying all in its path to waste with a stripped-down approach as heavy as the Kraken, while showing off the LOTM's punk and crossover influences.

Evil Power will be in stores and available via digital download on iTunes, Amazon mp3, eMusic, Lala, Shockhound, Napster, Zune, Rhapsody, LimeWire, IMVU and Myspace Music on April 13, 2010, and the CD will also be available direct from the band/label Thursday, April 1st, in conjunction with the video premiere. The record will be distributed by Southern Lord Records, who have released the band's previous three albums on CD and vinyl, two EPs and DVD.

The first leg tour promoting the release will kick off the week of the album's release as well, with plenty more to be announced throughout the year.

LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR Evil Power Spring Tour:

"So primitive is Evil Power, in fact, that it’s like moving from a Bronze Age sword to a straightforward mace, and it just might wind up being the band’s masterstroke." - Decibel Magazine

"It's good to see a band of their stature looking to expand their audience the old fashioned way - by starting up their own label and putting out a solid as fuck record." - Stonerrock.com

"Their sound is still based on some of the most pummeling metal the US  has ever produced, but several of their tracks show an affinity for hard rock riffing that reminds of Entombed..." - The Obelisk

"Celebrating bloody violence in ways your average videogame designer would never dare, Lair of the Minotaur is arguably the ultimate catharsis for the vengeful misfit in all of us." - Sleazegrinder

TEXTURES ANNOUNCE NEW FRONT MAN

Dutch extreme progressive technical metallers TEXTURES are excited to announce that Daniel de Jongh, former front man of the Dutch metal band Cilice, will replace Eric Kalsbeek who left the band earlier this year.

De Jongh had to say this about joining TEXTURES:

"I am truly honored to have been asked to replace Eric as vocalist for TEXTURES. TEXTURES is a standout band which I've listened to the last couple of years, like so many other metal-fans out there. Although it was a pretty tough decision to leave my former band Cilice, this was an offer I just couldn't refuse. The guys in TEXTURES are just a great bunch of people and it is clear that there is and will be loads of inspiration for the next years to come. I also know how much Eric was respected by the fans and I hope that I can assure you guys out there that I will replace him with as much dignity as he did for TEXTURES the last 6 years.  All I can say is that we as TEXTURES are ready to rock everyone out there and that the anticipation for the next album can be withhold. We are in writing process at the time and I can reveal that it is going to be kick-ass, as always!!  We will see you guys soon!!"

The band had this to say about de Jongh joining TEXTURES:

"It was really hard for us to part ways with Eric. Emotionally and musically. But Daniel gives us more than enough reasons to prolong our career, more hyped up than ever before. His experience, personality, musical taste and of course, his awesome vocal skills, make us see the future like a first spring morning after a severe winter-darkness.  TEXTURES 2.0 has just been launched!”

New vocalist Daniel de Jongh will make his live debut on a select number of shows this summer which will be announced soon.

TEXTURES joined the Nuclear Blast roster in June 2009.

TRIUMPH’S MAJESTIC ARENA ANTHEMS CELEBRATED ON NEW CD/DVD SET, ‘GREATEST HITS: REMIXED’

Few acts could whip an arena full of rockers into a frenzy as Triumph did throughout the late ‘70s and ‘80s, when the group’s best known line-up – guitarist/vocalist  Rik Emmett, bassist/keyboardist Mike Levine, and drummer/vocalist Gil Moore - were at the peak of their powers. And it’s this exact time period that is focused on throughout Triumph’s new “best of” set - ‘Greatest Hits: Remixed’ - which will be released on May 18, 2010.

All of the classic tunes that were - and continue to be - in heavy rotation on rock radio (and the early days of MTV) are included here, namely, “Lay it on the Line,” “Hold On,” “Fight the Good Fight,” “Magic Power,” etc.

These fourteen tracks of anthemic metal have never sounded so good, as they were all recently remixed by Rich Chycki (who has previously worked with Aerosmith and Rush). The set also includes a previously unreleased recording - “Love Hurts” - which will be the lead-off single from Triumph’s ‘Greatest Hits: Remixed.’

"We have been planning this release forever," says Levine. "For years, Triumph fans have been demanding that we give them a fresh greatest hits package and they are going to love this one."

Also included in the set is a DVD mixed in 5.1 audio, that features eleven promo and live videos in widescreen (plus additional unreleased videos for “Child of the City,” “Blinding Light Show,” and “Love Hurts,” and footage of the group’s 2008 induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame).

The deluxe two-disc package will be housed in a six-panel digipak – including a 20-page color booklet, complete with liner notes, lyrics, and chockfull of vintage photos.

Whether you’re a long-time Triumph fanatic or a new convert, you have never heard the group as crystal clear and loud n’ proud as you will throughout ‘Greatest Hits: Remixed.’ "’Greatest Hits: Remixed’ rocks like no other Triumph set,” declares Moore. “This is the definitive Triumph collector’s edition.

A STORM OF LIGHT Seek Permanent Drummer

In a message from Brooklyn atmospheric doomsters A STORM OF LIGHT:  "In just over two years since the band's inception, A STORM OF LIGHT has had the honor and privilege of playing with many great drummers: Vinny Signorelli, Jason Roeder, Pete Angevine etc. While this band is built around revolving members both in touring and recording, we've decided that a central three-piece will make us sonically/rhythmically stronger. That said, we have decided to look for a permanent drummer, one that can make STORM their primary focus, and be part of the band for the long haul.

When: ASAP. We will be recording in early fall and going to Europe from September 28 - Nov 1.

Where:
Ideally we want someone in Brooklyn/NYC, or damn close. While we are willing to consider people outside of the area (New Jersey/Philadelphia/Upstate NY/Providence/Boston/DC etc). Please keep in mind that we are constantly writing, recording, practicing, touring, so you will have to been in Brooklyn very regularly.

Experience: We are preferably looking for people with previous recording/touring experience, and who can tour regularly both nationally and internationally. (nice, fun, dedicated, motivated, relaxed, on time, honest, etc, etc, etc.)

Contact: Please include links to your drumming/musical projects, and email us at:
storm [at] astormoflight [dot] com. Thank you." -- A STORM OF LIGHT

WATAIN's Dark Law

We hereby announce the title of the fourth WATAIN album to be released on June 7th; Its name shall be Lawless Darkness!

"The title symbolizes the unbound chaotic potential of that which is void of light", frontman E. comments. "The light that defines, the light that shapes and restricts. The light by which the forces of law and order uphold their reign. In the absence of that light lies the wellspring of WATAIN: in Lawless Darkness.

"With this album and in all of our efforts with WATAIN we aim to capture the hungry madness and glimmering purity of darkness beyond illusion, the void that holds all yet where naught is manifest, the primordial tomb into which all the vanity of man and his creation shall collapse: indeed, The Lawless Darkness!

"Lawless Darkness shall be seen as a monument erected in honour of that collapse and a dedication to all those brave souls, who have willingly dared to venture the winding paths towards it."

"Shed not thy light on me
Get thee hence, thoughts defined
Blind me not with your bright structures
For I am of the night

"Let not thy rays caress me
Judged by them I will not be
For they are the light that governs man
And I am the enemy"

In other news, WATAIN will return to the United States once again in late May as part of the annual aural offensive known as the Maryland Deathfest, appearing with Sodom, Obituary, Entombed, Possessed, Necrophobic and countless more. See the complete fest lineup at: http://www.marylanddeathfest.com.

And, after completing the regular portion of their set at this year's Sweden Rock Festival in on June 12th, WATAIN will return to the stage for a unique 45-minute tribute concert featuring classic Bathory songs. The event promises to be even more special as the Bathory part of WATAIN's performance will be introduced by none other than late Bathory mainman Quorthon's father and producer, Börje "Boss" Forsberg. "It feels great to have Boss participating in a part of the show, since he, in a way, is the only living link to the Bathory myth," says E. "It will still be a tribute show and nothing else, but we are, of course, honored to be able to do it with his blessing!"

Candlelight Records Signs Sweden’s OCTOBER TIDE

Candlelight Records today confirms the worldwide signing of OCTOBER TIDE. The band featuring guitarist Fredrik Norrman, vocalist Tobias Netzell, drummer Robin Bergh, and session bassist Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry, Carnal Forge) is currently finishing work on their still untitled new album.  Expected for release early fall, it will be the first new recording from the band in over ten years. It follows recent reissue of the band’s acclaimed debut Rain Without End.
Formed in 1995 by then Katatonia guitarist Norrman and Katatonia/Bloodbath vocalist Jonas Renkse, OCTOBER TIDE quickly made a mark with two albums recorded and released during the years 1997 and 1999. Much of the band’s music was written during a short break up of Katatonia which later proved only temporary as the band would reform and continues today; their latest album Night Of The New Day features work by Norrman. OCTOBER TIDE would not perform live during this short period of activity and few interviews with the members were granted despite praise from both media and fans. The band, until reforming in late 2009, would maintain a cult status throughout the doom/metal community.
Decibel Magazine calls Rain Without End “a peculiar album. It reminds of past and future Katatonia albums yet, it’s entirely unique in vibe and riff assembly. OCTOBER TIDE’s slow to mid-paced doom/death stuns... Renkse and Norrman using counterpoint, build/release tension and melody to peerless effect.” EBlogger Lonely Ghost Transmissions on its 2008 review of the album’s European re-release says, “Rain Without End is without a doubt the greatest doom-death metal album ever.”
Candlelight Records is distributed exclusively in the United States by Caroline Distribution, EMI Music for Canada, and Plastichead Music for the rest of the world.

FEAR FACTORY Kick Off American Tour Supporting Mechanize;
“Making Of Fear Campaign” Premieres Via Decibel Magazine/YouTube Today

FEAR FACTORY started their first American dates in support of their acclaimed new album Mechanize last night at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona. The tour, also featuring Winds Of Plague, Dirge Within, and Periphery, will make seventeen stops including their performance at Revolver Magazine’s Golden Gods Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on April 8. In celebration of the tour’s launch, Sirius/XM Radio kicked off a promotion that will award one lucky fan in each market a pair of tickets to the show and enter the winner into a lottery. Two winners will be selected at random from all entrees on April 12 to win one of the limited edition European Mechanize “tool boxes” (strictly limited to 1500 and includes a FEAR FACTORY pencil, hammer, two screwdrivers, tongs, yardstick, measuring tape, patch, a small poster, sticker, a certificate and the new album in digipak format).

Decibel Magazine, who featured FEAR FACTORY on the cover of their March issue, are hosting a special “Making of Fear Campaign” documentary that premieres today at the magazine’s YouTube channel (http://www.decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=362771). Compiled by Christopher O’Coin, the behind the scenes footage offers candid, on-location interviews with members of the band, directors Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci, and still photographer Heather McGrath among others. Director Ian McFarland comments, ”making the video for FEAR FACTORY’s 'Fear Campaign' was definitely a very large undertaking. But when we sit back and watch the final piece, it’s a lot of fun to see the hard work of two separate crews working on opposite sides of the country pull it off together."

“Fear Campaign” was filmed on location in Los Angeles with post-production completed in Boston. For the video team it was a smooth process that required hours of intense commitment. Mike Pecci notes, “shooting in Los Angeles was surprisingly easy largely due to our co-producer Ryan Kohler from Revv Pictures. Everything seemed to move like clockwork with him. This was our first time shooting with professionally trained animals and honestly, those dogs (Bullet and Brownie) were better trained than most actors!  They were absolutely amazing to work with.”

In addition to live filming, “Fear Campaign” features a photographic montage all courtesy of Boston-based photographer Heather McGrath. Pecci recalls, “when Burton first approached us with the idea to a montage video we really wanted to come up with a new look that separated it from the political ones of the 90's. We love those old videos, but felt that a video that represented the return of FEAR FACTORY needed to be something new, fresh, and in your face.” Continues McFarland, “we eventually came up with the idea of shooting part of Burton's performance as photographs and animating them in a "flip book" technique that would help with the transition into the montages throughout the video. This idea, however, required us to take over 28,000 photos over a very short amount of time. We were literally shooting right up to the last minute.”

Tickets for all FEAR FACTORY shows are on sale now through all major ticket agencies and individual venue ticket box offices. FEAR FACTORY recently announced two special VIP ticket packages now on sale exclusively via http://www.artistarena.com. Each package contains a ticket to the show granting early admission, plus a t-shirt and other special items. VIP packages are available for each of the shows on the tour. Dates are:

Florida death metal monsters MALEVOLENT CREATION have just signed a management deal with Extreme Management Group (SUFFOCATION, ORIGIN). It is also at this time that the band would like to confirm April 5 2010 as the starting date for recording their new album with Eric Rutan at Mana Recording Studios (CANNIBAL CORPSE, VITAL REMAINS, GOATWHORE, etc.). The band has released the following official statement:

“After over 20 years in existence, and now having the most solid line up in years, we really wanted to make sure that with this new album we elevated the band in every way. Getting good management was crucial and EMG has a great track record. Erik had been talking to us since Doomsday X to record us, and with Gus Rios (drums) being the band full time now, we didn't want him to have the responsibility of producing the album as well as writing and playing. Erik really understands what we are about, and has all of the same thoughts about recording as us. It really couldn't be a better working situation. We've said it before but this album really is without a doubt is the most relentless, focused and brutal MALEVOLENT CREATION album ever! We really went back to our roots, not only as a band, but as fans of metal. We wrote an album of songs that we as fans of brutal music would want to hear.”

Pre-Production Video Blog #1: http://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=359657
Pre-Production Video Blog #2: http://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=361065

MALEVOLENT CREATION's latest album, "Doomsday X", was released in the U.S. in July 2007 via Nuclear Blast Records and in Europe in August 2007 via Massacre Records. The CD was recorded and engineered at Mercury Recording Studios in Pompano Beach, Florida by longtime friend and producer (and sometimes session member) Gus Rios, and is said to be the most diverse MALEVOLENT CREATION album recorded to date and "without a doubt their fastest!!" Mick Thomson, guitarist for SLIPKNOT, contributed a "ripping" guitar solo to the song "Deliver My Enemy".

Psychedelic UK based doom metal legends CATHEDRAL, have posted a video trailer offering audio samples from their upcoming record The Guessing Game, at the following location http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkuDyv0fpxo. The Guessing Game will be released on March 26 in Europe and on the unofficial stoner friendly holiday of April 20 in N. America.

Produced once again by Warren Riker (DOWN, CROWBAR), who also took care of the band's last effort, "The Garden Of Unearthly Delights", in 2005, "The Guessing Game" is one wild and unpredictable ride with one of the most unique and exciting acts the metal genre has got to offer! For the first time in the band's history, they have recorded a double album that boasts thirteen tracks offering a colourful variety of musical styles and lyrical themes: "Requiem For The Voiceless", for example, is pure, down 'n' out crawling doom — and the first animal-rights song in doom metal history! Then you'll get classic stomping and grooving CATHEDRAL material with the catchy "Painting In The Dark", plus many songs wading through psychedelic and proggy waters — especially "Funeral Of Dreams", featuring none other than Alison O' Donnell of MELLOW CANDLE ('70s Irish folk rock band) fame doing guest vocals.

It comes as no surprise that this time around CATHEDRAL went as far as to include exotic instrumentation such as Mellotron and Sitar. And pay special attention to the lyrics of "Journeys Into Jade": Lee Dorrian and Co. are celebrating 20 years of CATHEDRAL with this one!

And what a way to celebrate this anniversary: traditional CATHEDRAL cover artist Dave Patchett came up with one of his finest artworks in the band's history, mirroring the themes and musical quirkiness of the album itself.

The Guessing Game track listing:

THE LAST FELONY SIGNS WITH LIFEFORCE RECORDS
New Album due out this Summer

GERMANY – Lifeforce Records is proud to announce the signing of one of the most exciting young death metal acts, The Last Felony, from Montreal, Canada.

''Our search for a new label is finally over,'' guitarist Dominic Grimard comments. ''We are extremely proud to be joining the Lifeforce family. This label has housed so many great bands, whether it be past or present, which in effect, makes this deal that much more exciting for us.

"Lately, we have been stalled in our search for a label with an open mind in terms of extreme music, and Lifeforce seems like the perfect fit for us for obvious reasons.  We are grateful for this opportunity which Stefan Luedicke and the Lifeforce family have given us, and are anxious to see what the future holds for our band.

"We are currently set to release our new full length album Too Many Humans, due in summer this year.  This partnership opens vast opportunities in terms of touring outside Canadian soil, so you can expect to see TLF touring somewhere near you shortly.''

Having released their debut, Aeon Of Suffering, with well respected label Galy Records, who already introduced bands like Despised Icon and Beneath the Massacre to the metal world, The Last Felony is now ready to take the world by storm with their new album Too Many Humans, to be released this summer on Lifeforce Records.

Since the band was formed in 2005, The Last Felony shared stages with such acts as Mayhem, Cryptopsy, Origin, A Life Once Lost, Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza, Beneath The Massacre, Leng T`Che, Neuraxis, Despised Icon, Norther, Ion Dissonance, Dying Fetus, Carnifex & Misery Index.  They have also had the chance to appear at such prestigious events as the Trois-Rivieres Metalfest & Terrorfest.

The Canadians are focusing on a mixture between technical brutal death metal with discreet traces of black metal.  Too Many Humans consists of constant tempo changes and technicality, from fast going blast beats to slowdowns and everything in between.  The Last Felony’s first record for Lifeforce will be the soundtrack to our world's demise.

The track "Too Many Humans" from the upcoming album can be found on the band's Myspace profile at www.myspace.com/thelastfelony.
